- Extended Rx. coverage for ICOM IC2400E
- ======================================
-
- WARNING
- ~~~~~~~
- THIS MODIFICATION MAY INVALIDATE THE SUPPLIER'S WARRANTY.
-
- 1. Remove both top and bottom covers, care should be taken when removing the
- bottom cover as the speaker is attached to it.
- 2. Remove the eight screws which hold the fascia to the chassis, noting that
- the screw lengths are different.
- 3. Slide the fascia forward away from the chassis, it will only move a short
- way as the connecting cables are short.
- 4. Look at the rear of the fascia and to the right of centre, locate the
- diode matrix marked D1, D11, D8 Etc. (they are not in numerical sequence.)
- Note. It may be necessary to move some leads, including the battery leads
- to access the matrix.
- 5. Cut the leads to D11, D6 and D8.
- 6. Reassemble the transceiver taking care not to trap any cables and ensuring
- that the correct length screws are replaced in the correct holes (failure
- to ensure this happens may cause component damage).
- 7. Switch on the transceiver and you should have Rx. coverage from 138-174
- Mhz and 400-479 Mhz. There is a drawback when in scan mode; it still
- observes the UK allocations.
-
- This mod. is from a sheet issued by ICOM, so it should be "approved".
- Finally, do remember to DISCONNECT BATTERY POWER before starting work.
